03 Buy Box Matching
Buy box matching is the system that connects what you want to buy with what other users are selling. When someone publishes a property that fits your saved criteria, ReiSearch flags it and sends you the details.
How Matching Works
The platform compares every published property against every active buy box. A match occurs when the property's attributes fall within the buy box's criteria:
- Price falls within your price range
- Property type matches one of your selected types
- Location is in one of your specified cities, ZIPs, or metro areas
- Deal type matches one of your selected deal structures
- Beds, baths, square footage, year built all fall within your optional ranges
A property must meet all required criteria to generate a match. Optional fields (beds, baths, sq ft, year built) are evaluated only if you set them. If you leave them blank, they do not block matches.
Where Matches Appear
- Notifications — The bell icon in the global header lights up with a count. Open it to see match notifications with the property address and a link to the listing.
- Dashboard — Match notifications appear in the Notifications panel on the right side of the Dashboard.
- Auto-send presentations — If enabled, a full presentation about the matching property is sent directly to you. You receive it without taking any action. Auto-send is capped at 3 presentations per buyer per 7 days.
What to Do When You Get a Match
- Open the notification or presentation and review the property details.
- Check the comps attached to the property. If the publisher included comps, they appear in the presentation.
- Respond to the publisher through the messaging system or the contact information provided.
- If the property is not right, dismiss the notification. The system continues to match you with new properties.
How to Get Better Matches
Too few matches? Widen your criteria:
- Expand your price range by $50,000 in each direction.
- Add more cities or switch from a single ZIP to the full metro area.
- Select additional deal types.
- Check more property types.
Too many irrelevant matches? Narrow your criteria:
- Tighten your price range to exclude properties outside your budget.
- Remove locations where you do not operate.
- Add optional fields like minimum beds or minimum square footage.
- Select only the deal types you actually close.
Match Frequency
New matches appear as properties are published to the Marketplace. If no new properties match your criteria, you may not receive matches for a while. Check the Marketplace occasionally to see active listings in your target area, even if they did not trigger a match.
When Matching Stops
Your buy box stops generating matches if:
- You deactivate or archive the buy box.
- Your account is inactive or suspended.
- The buy box visibility is set to Private and you stop appearing in buyer searches.
Reactivating the buy box resumes matching.
